So you want to hear about that miracle?

My companion and I were walking along the side of the street, and someone named Julio passed by in his truck. He told us, "Hey Elders, come to my house, I need to talk to you guys." We already knew him, because he was a referral from the branch council. When they gave us the referral we went to go meet him, but he told us he was going to be out of town for 3 or 4 months working, so we weren´t going to be able to teach him. So we were a little surprised to see him because he would have had to get back early.

So anyway, we went to see him, and when we showed up at his house he told us that while he was out traveling he felt like he needed to change his life. He said "I felt like God was calling me, you know? like, "Come back!" and then I remembered you guys, and I want you to help me get closer to God. Who is Joseph Smith anyway?

So very amazed and a little confused about what was happening, my companion and I taught him about the restoration. As we taught him, he was so excited by how strong he felt the spirit, that he literally jumped up and down in his chair. Now we are pretty excited to plan a baptism for him, We are just going to wait a while because he has to go out of town to work again. But when he gets back, we´ll pick up where we left off.

This story is so great because it shows that God really is preparing people all the time. He is always working on softening the hearts of his children and He doesn´t forget about anybody.

I have also been thinking a lot about my weaknesses, I have so many and sometimes I feel like they get in the way of my calling. But if we trust in the Lord, ask with faith, and just do the best we can to overcome our weaknesses, they can become our strengths.


Ether 12: 27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

We had a pretty cool miracle this week but I don´t have much time to write, so.....remind me next week.   

For now, I testify that Heavenly Father loves all of his children, and if we strive for it we can have an eternal familia. Lately, the Retalhuleu Mission has changed its focus a little bit. Now basically everything we do is focused on families so that more families can be sealed it the temple and have an eternal family. and it is super cool. I have seen a ton of families blessed by the gospel and in many forms.

Right now, my dream is that the families that I have a hand in teaching, can get sealed in the temple, and have an eternal family. I know it is possible, and I have faith that it will happen.

Hey guys, how's it going?

Guys, there are so many miracles in this world. The other day we were riding on a bus and I started to talk to a lady that was seated next to me. We were talking about families, and what a great blessing they are and how the gospel can bless our families (basically the first missionary lesson). I asked her "Why do you think that all of the churches in the world have different doctrines if there is only one God?" She said, "well it's because mankind has corrupted the doctrine of Christ" (which is a surprisingly good answer and shows that she understands that apostasy better than your average joe). I then felt prompted to share with her the story of Joseph Smith, and I testified to her that the church has been restored, and gave her a book of Mormon. And you know what she said? She said, "I am going to read this book and if I find the answers to my questions I will go to your church."

I know that miracles exist. Most of the people we talk with on the busses don't want anything to do with the restored gospel, but God put this person in our path, and she was able to hear for the first time in her life, about the restored gospel, and she felt the spirit testify that it is true.

I know that life can be tough at times, but if we are obedient to the commandments of God and we exercise our faith, we will see miracles in our lives.

Happy Birthday

I have not gotten my birthday loot yet, but I think they will give it to me tomorrow. Sister Goodman sent me a text message to wish me a happy birthday, and she told me that there is a package in the office.

But that is pretty awesome about [Joshua Garstin's] Eagle Court. I would have liked to be there for that. I have his email from Skagit Valley, but I don't know if he uses it anymore. I'll send him a message right now. But could you ask if he has another one just in case, cause in bootcamp they don't let you use email right?

I gave him an update on the Church and BSA (and other county scouts organizations)


That's pretty cool, I'm excited to see what the new program will be, it'll be weird that it's not Boy Scouts though. But a program inspired by the Lord will definitely be better.

Yeah everyone over here has been talking about the volcanoes over here. But I haven't even seen a cloud, so there's nothing to worry about.

But I better go, there's work to do.

So there is supposedly a volcano that erupted around here in Guatemala; it is all anybody out here has been talking about. But I am not anywhere near the volcano. I've only heard about it and seen the charity/relief stuff that they are gathering to help the people that were affected. And life goes on as normal.

I just got a new companion yesterday. He is from Honduras and his name is Elder Galeas. This guy is super funny, and he's a good worker as well. The other day we went around introducing him to the members. One time there was a guy talking to one of the members that I didn`t recognize, so I asked him if he was a member. He said no. My companion asked him when we can come to visit him. This guy said "oh... um... I'm not in the house much, but I'll let my friend he (the member) know when you can come. "As if he didn`t really care if we came or not. My companion says "oh don't worry, here I have my planner." and started to write done all this guys information so that he wouldn't escape us. muahahaha, evil laugh.
